Project Race Car

We were recently contacted through Instagram by a fellow petrolhead called Jack. He wanted to tell us about “Project Race Car” and to thank us for creating Re:Fuel. Well, firstly, of course we’re honoured to be able to provide somewhere all you passionate petrolheads can call home. Secondly, we thought it would be better if Jack got the chance to tell everyone, not just us, about Project Race Car. After all, it’s the stories behind the cars that really make Re:Fuel such an interesting place to chat cars and meet both new faces and old. So, take it away Jack….

So what is Project Race Car? In short, it’s a newly created project setup by myself and my good friend Ollie. We’re both young and enthusiastic petrolheads with a passion for all cars (not unlike the chaps at Re:Fuel). We met when Ollie left a card on the windshield of my Mitsubishi Evo 8 with an invitation to a local car club. With Ollie himself having an Evo 5, we quickly realised we had plenty in common.

After much discussion it became apparent our similarities extended beyond just the love of cars, we both had a passion for video editing, photography and technology. This led very naturally on to us jointly creating the Project Race Car Instagram page which gave us a platform to post our favourite shots of our own cars, cars we admired and much more.

We love coming along to Re:Fuel and, like many visitors, are both very lucky to own some fantastic cars, and are very excited to get the chance to share them with you all!

Ollie’s Collection
1998 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 5 GSR
2007 Mitsubishi Lancer CS3
2002 Mitsubishi Colt (Turbo Project)

Jack’s Collection
2001 Nissan Skyline R34 GTT
2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 MR FQ-320
2003 Mazda MX-5 NB Sport

So, going back to Project Race Car – it was setup with the intention of being not just a social media presence, but with the long term goal of creating a community of like-minded petrolheads where they can showcase their projects & pride and joy with others. That’s when YouTube came in.

Both myself and Ollie have dabbled in various aspects of YouTube and video editing in the past. After both watching others such as Adam LZ, Dustin Williams, Mr JWW, etc for many years, it made sense that we would come together and start producing automotive based content of our own. Not only that, we both feel very fortunate to be able to own & experience these cars at this point in our lives and it seemed a wasted opportunity not to share that with others. The Project Race Car YouTube channel was born.

We want to do big things in the future, but for the meantime we are having a blast producing content on the progress of our own cars and travelling to awesome events and venues such as Re:Fuel. The goal is very much to be not just another YouTube channel, but to provide something different and more engaging. At the time of writing this the channel is fairly new, however if you’d like to join us on our journey we hope you’ll consider subscribing. Look out for us at future Re:Fuel events and come and say hello!

Thanks so much to Jack and Ollie for sharing their story. We’ve all dreamt of having that ultra-cool project on the go in our garage, our workshop, or even driveway! But not all of us have the space, time or money to pursue the dream at the moment. If you find yourself yearning after that elusive project that’s just out of reach right now, why not follow Jack and Ollie on the Project Race Car Instagram and Project Race Car YouTube channel. Whilst you’re there, please do subscribe to our Re:Fuel YouTube channel too!
