First ever Kids Car Show at Re:Fuel

  • by

Calling all car lovers big and small! We’d like to introduce the first-ever Lightning McQueen and Friends Children’s Car Show, a unique event hosted in partnership with JB & Me, a local charity supporting children experiencing bereavement.

Taking place on Sunday the 21st of April from 9am at Re:Fuel, Five Bridges, Willand Road, Cullompton, Devon, EX15 1QP, the event promises a day jammed with activities for the whole family to take part in.

The star of the show will be a special appearance from a life-sized Lightning McQueen, sure to excite any Cars fan. Youngsters will also have the chance to enter their own cars into the Children’s Car Show, whether they’re motorized or pedal-powered, there’s the chance to win exciting prizes. A bouncy castle, face painting, and a dedicated RC track with Piston Cup licences available for all participants. All this will help keep the little ones entertained throughout the day.

Here at Re:Fuel we are no stranger to hosting automotive themed events, however this will be their first ever Children’s Car Show. Dan Regan, Director and Co-Founder of Re:Fuel said “We’re thrilled to be hosting this unique event alongside JB and Me. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring together families with their love of cars and support an incredible local charity.”

JB and Me was set up to make sure that any child who has lost a loved one and is struggling with the grief and uncertainty of a bereavement has the help they need. JB is a magical soft bear featuring a colour changing heart that will change colour when he is cuddled letting the child know that he is listening. JB is donated free of charge to children in need and has already found a home with over 100 grieving families with the aim of reaching many more.

So where does Lightning McQueen come in? It is estimated that only five life size fibreglass Lightning McQueen’s were produced in total by Disney for the promotion of Cars 2 in 2011. In December 2021 JB and Me were approached by a small local business that had seen one of such Lightning McQueen’s was up for sale and whether it could be used to help promote the charity. JB and Me jumped at the opportunity and are now on a mission to reach more families, get Lightning McQueen to more of his adoring fans and raise more awareness of the charity.

Sue and Bec co-founders of JB and Me, said “JB and Me is a small unregistered charity that was set up after our family lost the most amazing little man. The children within our family could not and did not know how to process the loss of a child. With thanks to organisations like Re:Fuel we are able to help support even more families in need.”

There’s no ticket required for entry, but a small entry fee is needed to register your child’s car for the show. Entry passes can be purchased online through JB and Me’s online shop: https://bringingmcqueentolife.sumupstore.com/product/lightning-mcqueen-and-friends-children-s-car-show-1-entry-pass. Don’t miss out on this exciting day filled with family fun, cool cars, and the opportunity to support a worthy cause!
